Frequently Asked Questions

Applications for the Faculty of Creative Arts have closed.

Please see below for answers to your questions about the FCA application process and interviews.

The Application Flowchart contains a basic break down of the process and important key dates. For information about admission to UOW see the Future Students website.

Q1: What important dates do I need to know?

A1:  Interviews and auditions will be held from 23 November – 4 December 2009. UAC applicants should also be aware of the UAC closing dates- please refer to www.uac.edu.au for details.

Q2: What do I need to include in my portfolio?

A2: The content of your portfolio will depend on the degree and discipline/s you are applying for. Please refer to Interview information and  Portfolio Requirements for full details.

Q3. What do I do if I can’t make it to the interview/audition on the date I have been given?

A3: It is expected that all domestic applicants will make themselves available during the interview/audition period from 23 November to 4 December 2009.  If you cannot make it to your allocated time due to circumstances beyond your control, you must submit a request for a change of interview date in writing to fca_enquiries@uow.edu.au and we will do our best to find you an alternative. However, due to the volume of interviews, we cannot accommodate every request.

Requests for a change of interview date will no be considered from Monday 9 November 2009.

Q4. What do I need to know about the interview/audition process to help me do well?

A4: Please refer to our interview information and  portfolio requirements sheet which will give you further details to assist you in preparing for your interview or audition.  Please refer to your relevant area of study (discipline) on the sheet for helpful information.

Q5. Who will be interviewing me?

Q5: You will be interviewed by the Faculty Academic Staff who teach in the area of study that you are applying for.  There will be two to four members of staff on each interview panel (depending on the discipline).

Q6. How long will my interview/audition take?

A6:  Because of the volume of interviews, we cannot designate a specific time for each person.  You will be asked to arrive at a certain time and after an initial group briefing, you will then have to wait for your individual interview.  If you have applied to one area of study only, please be prepared to spend half a day at the University.  If you have applied for two or more areas of study, please be prepared to spend majority of the day at the University.  Please not that Performance auditions include a series of workshops and will take most of the day.

Q7. Can I defer my degree or scholarship if I get an offer?

A7: The Faculty of Creative Arts does not accept deferrals for scholarships or any of their degrees (BCA, BDM or BJ). If you do not wish to attend in 2010, you will need to apply (or re-apply) for 2011 during our normal application process.

Q8. When will I know if I have an actual offer to study at the Faculty of Creative Arts in 2010?

A8:  Main round offers for UAC applications are release on 20 January 2010 via the UAC website at http://www.uac.edu.au/ Direct applicants will be notified by the end of January 2009. Transfer applicants will be notified in early February 2009.
