INTERNAL COURSE TRANSFER TO BACHELOR OF CREATIVE ARTS OR BACHELOR OF JOURNALISM
INFORMATION SHEET for 2007
1. General Information
Students sometimes discover that they have made the wrong choice in selecting a degree course that does not meet their interests or abilities. The University allows students the possibility of varying their course by transferring into another degree program.
The number of internal course transfer places depends on the demand for places by new students applying either through UAC or via direct entry for programs offered by the Faculty of Creative Arts. Entry is highly competitive: students considering a course transfer should note that there is no guarantee of success.
If you wish to transfer into the BCA or BJ, it is wise to seek preliminary advice from the Sub Dean or the Faculty Executive Manager.
Note: Transfer is only possible in Autumn Session.
2. Procedure
To be considered for an internal transfer into a Faculty of Creative Arts undergraduate degree, you will need to follow the procedure outlined below:
Complete and submit an Application for Interview/Audition by September 28, 2007.
You must include a portfolio of your creative work for the BCA as specified by the application form.
These forms are available from the Faculty Executive Manager, from UniAdvice, or may be downloaded from the University website from July 2007>
http://www.uow.edu.au/prospective/apply/index.html
You will also need to include a copy of your academic record,
AND
complete an “Undergraduate Application to Vary Course Registration” form, and submit this with your application for interview/audition. This form is available from the Academic Registrar’s Division at Student Central, Building 11, or can be downloaded from http://www.uow.edu.au/student/forms/UOW008135.html
Both your application for interview/audition and your application to vary your course must be lodged with the Faculty Reception Desk, 25.113.
Note: Late applications will attract a fee of $50.
3. Selection
The selection criteria used for choosing successful applicants are as follows:
- Interview/Audition and portfolio
- A minimum of 24 credit points completed in your current degree
- Details of your UAI or TER, including results for individual subjects
- Your academic record from your current degree.
4. Notification of Results of Your Application
You will be notified of the results of your application in early February, 2007. To avoid Late Re-Enrolment Charges you will need to re-enrol in you current degree program. If you are successful in transferring, the Faculty will assist you in withdrawing from those subjects and enrolling in Creative Arts programs.
