The Summer School on Solid State Dosimetry will follow
the successful format of the previous Summer Schools, held in conjunction with SSD13 in Athens, SSD14 in Yale and SSD 15 in Delft and will include lectures by international experts.
Summer School Program
Eligibility
The aim of the SSD Summer School is to teach the skills and knowledge
needed to understand the principles and application of dosimetry
based on solid state detectors. The School allows doctoral students
and early-career researchers as well as personnel employed at dosimetry services.
The Summer School is intended for scientists who are new in the field and for those who like to deepen their knowledge. The School is an international event and we welcome applicants from economically less developed countries.
Dates and Venue
The Summer School will be held from Wednesday September 15 – Saturday September 18, 2010, the week before the Conference.
Courses are held at the Innovation Campus, University of Wollongong.
The deadline for Summer School registraiton is August 15th 2010.
Lectures will take place in the ITAMS Building (No. 233) room G01.

Students are expected to pay the Summer School fee and to fund their own travel and living expenses.

The Gong Shuttle provides free transport between the Innovaiton Campus and the UOW main campus as well as the city of Wollongong. Further details are available here
Accommodation
We recommend the accommodation available at Wollongong Serviced Apartments (http://www.wsa.com.au/) and also at the Novotel Wollongong. This accommodation is both, affordable and close to the summer school campus.

Topics and lecturers
Lecturers will be given on basic topics in solid state dosimetry followed by lectures on applications Special attention will be to Medical Dosimetry in Radiation Therapy and Diagnostics Radiology as well as GEANT 4 Monte Carlo simulations in medical dosimetry with training session.
