Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

My browser Displays Old Information

eg: The Tutorial Enrolment System is not Active - but it's past 10am on the first Monday
Some browsers store previously viewed pages in memory's cache on the user's computer.
Cached pages can also be stored in memory on the ISP's (Internet Service Providers) computer.
We recommend you set your browser to verify documents "every time" or "once per session".
- In Netscape Communicator Version 4.04 or higher, go to the Edit Menu, Preferences, Advanced, Cache - click either "every time" or "once per session".
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or later - enter in the following: http://terra.uow.edu.au/cgi-bin/studform-cgi?value=
  then add any random 12 characters or number 5138794awe64 - the URL should now look this:
  http://terra.uow.edu.au/cgi-bin/studform-cgi?value=5138794awe64
  (note: you need to have a different random combination for every session)
- In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, General - click onto settings,
  set your browser to "every visit to the page" or "every time you start Internet Explorer"

TPS will not accept my Student Number

The TPS system could not find your student number on the main TPS database. This could indicate you are not officially enrolled in any Commerce subjects or have recently officially enrolled.

Once officially enrolled subject details are uploaded into TPS 10am & 3pm each
business day during the tutorial enrolment period.

You must be officially enrolled (via UOW SOLS) in the subject you wish to register preferences before the closing (Thursday 8pm) of TPS.

Go to SOLS to confirm your UOW enrolment. If you are unable to confirm or vary your enrolment contact the appropriate TPS Co-ordinator as soon as possible.

TPS will not accept my birthdate?

Birthdates must be entered in the form DDMMYY eg: 190376 (19th March 1976).

If you are still having problems with the birthdate, check your enrolment details -
there have been instances where the SOLS birthdate was different from the actual birthdate.

How can I change My Preferences?

You may change your preferences as many times as you wish, during the 11 day TPS operating period
From the Main Menu click onto Select Tutorial Preferences
It is advised that you check your preferences on TPS during the availability period
(11 days starting from the Monday two weeks prior to the session commencing) as some tutorial/workshop/ computer lab classes could be cancelled or changed during this period.

The class I want to register for is not listed

Not all class times are released when TPS commences, as there are a number of unknown variables such as number of students and tutor availability.

It is advised that you check your preferences on TPS during the availability period
(11 days starting from the Monday two weeks prior to the session commencing) as some tutorial/workshop/ computer lab classes could be cancelled or added during this period.

When Will TPS Preferences Be Processed?

Tutorial preferences will be processed early afternoon of Friday after the closing of TPS.

Students who are not officially enrolled (via SOLS) into subjects will not have their preferences processed.

What happens after 8pm Thursday TPS Closes?

Students who do not register preferences by closing of TPS (8pm on the Thursday) will need to select a tutorial during Week 1 of Session (as from 10am Monday)
Note: only tutorial times that were not previously allocated will be available, on a
"first-in" basis.

When can I view Allocated Tutorials?

Students can view their final allocated Preferences from 4pm the day after TPS closes

What if I want to change an Allocated Tutorial?

As from 10am Monday first week of session, students can view the non-allocated tutorial times and swap tutorial classes.
From the Main Menu click onto Change or Make an Enrolment

How to enrol in Subjects not using TPS?

You should be told how to enrol into a tutorial/workshop/computer lab for subjects not using the Tutorial Preference System during the first lecture.

You may want to consult with the subject co-ordinator or check notice boards in the appropriate Schools prior to session commencing

When do Tutorials/Computer Labs/Workshops Start?

All Tutorials/Computer Labs/Workshops start in Week 2 of Session - unless stated differently by the relevant Schools.

Cannot View an Allocated Tutorial

You are trying to see your allocated tutorial class when you have not made any preference selections.
If this is not the case, verify you preference selection to confirm you have indeed selected preferences for this subject
From the Main Menu click onto Look Up my Tutorial Preference Choices
If you were not officially (via UOW administration) enrolled in a subject by the closing time of TPS, your preferences were not processed. You must add additional subjects
via SOLS 5 hours prior to the closing of TPS.
Go to SOLS to confirm the subjects you are officially enrolled in.
