 Learning Support

Learning Development provide a range of services for your students. These include individual consultations and generic workshops delivered through the Learning Resource Centre (Building 19.G102, extension 3799). They also provide a range of online and downloadable learning resources from their website.

 Careers Service

The Careers Service provides a range of services to students including careers counselling, resume checks and interview practice. They also provide a wide range of links and information for students on their website.

 Student Support Advisor (SSA)

The SSAs offer support referral, information and assistance to all students of UoW

However, they offer specific support to particular groups of students such as those with a disability or medical condition which affects a student’s study, International students, students from equity groups such as Indigenous students, students from low socio-economic background, students for whom English is not their first language, students with carer responsibilities and students from rural and isolated areas.

The SSA also supports transition and equity programs run by the faculty.

 International Students

The Student Support Advisor (SSAs) assist International students with issues which might arise in adapting to life in a foreign culture. They can provide information on a wide range of issues including personal and financial matters, academic concerns, grievances, visa enquiries, working in Australia, legal issues, accidents, family worries and emergencies. SSAs can also help international students meet other students and community members through the many support groups available on campus.

 Disabilities Service

The Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) can provide advice on how particular disabilities and/or medical conditions affect university study and information on resources available at the University for assisting students with disability. Students who need assistance during their studies should contact the Disability Liaison Officer by phone (02) 4221 3445; or facsimile (02) 4221 5667 or call in at the office located on the third floor of the UniCentre building.

The Faculty of Commerce also has a Student Support Advisor (SSA) who is able to field your enquiries about process in relation to students requiring disabilities support. Please contact Ann Maree Smith, located in 40.133, extension 4714 or email ams@uow.edu.au if you have any queries.

 University of Wollongong Library

The University's goals of excellence in learning, teaching and research are underpinned by access to half a million books, over 22,000 journal titles, 200,000 journal volumes, 250 databases (online collections of journal articles) and 3,000 e-books, with many resources available regardless of location, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

The library is open for fixed hours each day of the week throughout the semester and is a valuable resource for both staff and students. For further information about the library, including its opening times and resources, please visit the library in building 16, opposite the duck pond or view the information on-line.

 

 Shoalhaven Campus and Education Centres

The services available to your students are located on your Campus/ Centre webpage. These include learning support, careers service, library services, counselling, IT Services, Disabilities and other facilities.
