Faculty Research Awards

Publication Excellence Award

The Publication Excellence Award rewards and encourages outstanding achievement in the publication of scholarly articles or books. Specifically, it will reward the publication of material in high quality/impact journals of international reputation or prestigious research book publication.

Only refereed journal articles and authored research books will be eligible for this award.

The award of $1,000 will be deposited into the candidate’s teaching and research account. The successful candidate will also be awarded a research plaque at the annual Faculty Award night.

Researcher of the Year Award

The Researcher of the Year Award rewards and encourages outstanding overall achievement in research. This may include outstanding achievements in any or all areas of research, including grant awards, publications, impact and supervision.

All Commerce academic staff are eligible.

The award of $5,000 will be deposited into the candidate’s teaching and research account. The successful candidate will also be awarded a research plaque at the annual Faculty Award night.

New Researcher Achievement Award

The New Researcher Achievement Award rewards and encourages outstanding new researchers. Specifically, it will reward candidates with high quality outcomes and outputs who demonstrate the potential to build promising research profiles.

To be eligible for this award academic staff must have completed a PhD within the past two years or be in the process of completing a PhD (only candidates completing within the specified time of 4 years equivalent full-time (EFT) will be considered).

The award will be $1,000 to be deposited into the candidate’s teaching and research account. The successful candidate will also be awarded a research plaque at the annual Faculty Award night.

Professional Service Award

The Professional Service Award rewards and encourages professional service by Commerce academics. Specifically, it will reward those individuals who have established a reputation by dedicating their time and expertise to duties such as reviewing of manuscripts, grant applications and membership of editorial boards.

The award of $1,000 will be deposited into the candidate’s teaching and research account. The successful candidate will also be awarded a professional service plaque at the annual Faculty Award night.

Impact Award

The Impact Award is intended to reward and encourage the translation of scholarly work into professional publication outlets, the publication of high impact industry and government reports and major research-related media events. Specifically, it will reward the publication of material in those outlets which create maximum impact in terms of citation impact, media coverage or policy changes within the relevant industry sector or social environment.

All academic staff are eligible for the award.

The award of $1,000 will be deposited into the candidate’s teaching and research account. The successful candidate will also be awarded a research plaque at the annual Faculty Award night.

Research Online Award

The Research Online Award rewards authors of publications that have been downloaded most frequently in the previous year. Specifically, authors from the Faculty of Commerce of the three most downloaded scholarly articles in any one year will receive awards. The Award recognises the important role that Research Online plays in building the Faculty's research profile and fostering diverse and equitable relationships in research in the wider academic community.

All academic staff are eligible for the award.

The award of $500 will be deposited into the candidate's teaching and research account. The successful candidate will also be awarded a research plaque at the annual Faculty Award night.

Higher Degree Research (HDR) Award
The HDR Award is intended to reward and encourage excellence in higher degree research. Specifically, it will reward excellent progress in the student's HDR candidature as well as scholarly publications throughout the course of the candidature. The Award recognises the important role played by higher degree research students in developing a strong and diverse research environment within the Faculty.

All HDR students are eligible for the award.

The award of $500 will be deposited into the candidate's research account.
