Faculty Editorial Support
Faculty Editorial Support provides editorial assistance with their refereed journal or authored research book submissions. Specifically, this support is intended to allow for editing of grammar, language, sentence and paper structure. It is not intended for content or support of administrative duties such as formatting, tables or paper layout.
Editorial support is also available for the free-text component of National Competitive Grant applications.
To be eligible for this support staff must be submitting or revising and resubmitting to an approved refereed journal, authoring an approved research book, or applying for a National Competitive Grant. Contributions to book chapters, conference articles, PhD theses (even if accepted for publication) or reports are not eligible for support. Editorial support will be provided only once per manuscript, except where substantial changes have been made to the paper and the author(s) have subsequently received an offer of publication from an eligible journal that is contingent upon a further revision.
It should be noted that in order for a paper to be eligible for editorial support, the following conditions apply:
- The percentage contribution to the authorship of the paper by a UOW staff member must exceed or be equal to that of other contributing authors. This should subsequently be reflected in the RIS entry for the paper.
- Papers where students appear as first authors will only receive editorial support when approved by the Design and Editorial Officer in consultation with the editor.
Those who receive editorial support will also be asked to provide proof of submission of the paper to the nominated journal, and to inform the Design and Editorial Officer of the eventual result of the submission. This is for statistical purposes only.

Faculty Graphic/Design Support
Faculty Graphic/Design Support provides academic staff with assistance in producing professional quality charts and figures for their refereed journal or authored research book submissions. It is not intended for content or support of administrative duties such as formatting, tables or paper layout as such.
Figures for inclusion in book chapters, conference articles /powerpoint displays or reports will also be considered for support, time permitting.
Applications can be made at any time to Mr Robert Hood in the Faculty Research Division.

Faculty of Commerce ARC Application Preparation Support
Aim and Budget
The aim of the ARC Application Preparation Support Scheme is to provide targeted support for the preparation of ARC grants. Funding can be used to conduct a pilot project to strengthen the grant application (to a maximum of $5,000) or for research assistance in putting the grant application together, including the administration of GAMS (to a maximum of $2,000). The Faculty does not offer the ARC Application Preparation Support Scheme on a regular basis. The availability of the Scheme depends on budget availability. Calls for applications are announced if the Scheme is available.
Call for Applications
Applications are now open for staff members in the Faculty of Commerce who are eligible to apply for an ARC Linkage or ARC Discovery Grant and who are intending to apply for such grant in 2009.
Application Process
Completed applications can be sent to the Faculty Research Division at any time.
Conditions
- An ARC Linkage Project or Discovery Grant will be submitted in 2009.
- At least one CI on the ARC Grant will be a staff member from the Faculty of Commerce.
- The ARC Grant will be submitted with the University of Wollongong as administrating organisation.
- The awarded amount must be used prior to submission of the ARC Grant.
To be eligible for Faculty Research funding, all applicants must have fulfilled all obligations related to any previously awarded Faculty Grant or Support scheme including the provision of satisfactory progress and/or final reports.
