Reetu is an early career researcher completing her PhD thesis at the University of Wollongong in 2009. Her thesis research analysed the roles of saving, investment and foreign capital inflows in promoting economic growth in India. She is a senior lecturer in the School of Economics at the University of Wollongong and is currently also undertaking the Sub Dean’s role in the Faculty of Commerce. Her research interests are economic modelling, applied econometrics, economic growth and development in Asia. Her current research has concentrated on gender differences in the workplace, sustainability of trade deficit in the South Asian countries and international migration, wage inequality and labour mobility.

Dr Reetu Verma has successfully received competitive research grants from the University. Reetu has also presented papers to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Mumbai, in 2005. Reetu has been invited back by the RBI to the view of doing joint work with them. Reetu is currently supervising three PhD students with one completion plus has successfully supervised one Honours student to completion and currently supervising two.Further to this, she has received the student’s Higher Degree Research (HDR) Award for Excellence (awarded first place), Faculty of Commerce, University of Wollongong twice in row, 2007 and 2008. Reetu has also been nominated for the Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning in 2006, 2008 and 2011.
