The Asia Pacific Economic Forum (APEF), along with The Centre for
Applied Statistics, Renmin University of China, is organizing its
fourth international conference in China, on 26-28 June 2004.
APEF (also known as the Sooyang Club) is a new international economics
group set up in May 2001 at the Kangwon National University, Chunchon,
Korea. APEF's objectives are to research, discuss and disseminate
substantive findings and information on development, growth, trade,
regional integration and international economic relations in APEF
countries with special focus on East Asia, South East Asia and Oceania.
The 1st APEF conference was hosted by Kangwon National University,
Chuncheon, Korea, the 2nd one was hosted by Wollongong University,
Wollongong, Australia and 3rd one was hosted by Keio University,
Japan.
2001 APEF memberships include academics from high-level universities
in the Asia Pacific region. President and Secretary of APEF for
year 2004 are Zhao Yanyun (Renmin University of China, China) and
Charles Harvie (University of Wollongong, Australia).
