Below are the elected Commerce Student Representatives for 2009 and some information on them.

Liangke Chen Liangke Chen is in her second year of a BCom degree, majoring in Accounting. She recently learnt Tai chi, a Chinese system of slow meditative physical exercise. She would like to establish a Tai Chi Club to spread the word on its benefits. During a holiday trip to the Hunter Valley, she realised that she was keen to travel more widely. She likes swimming, surfing the internet, rock climbing and dance, and would like to learn yoga. |
Gurpreet Khurmi Currently in her second year of her Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Gurpreet is majoring in Finance and Economics. Whilst having a short term goal of working with the Director of Public Prosecutions, Gurpreet one day hopes to own her own hotel business. Currently employed as an administrative assistant, Gurpreet’s hobbies include dancing, reading and the occasional night out.

Bernadette McCormack Bernadette is keen to represent the postgraduate student interests and is currently undertaking PhD accounting studies. Prior to joining UOW she was Chief Trust Account Inspector for the NSW Law Society and Principal Auditor and Advisor for the Queensland Office of State Revenue. Before that, Bernadette spent 16 years in the Australian Tax Office where she held a variety of senior roles. Bernadette is a Fellow of CPA Australia, Finsia, the Taxation Institute of Australia, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is a keen snow ski racer.

Jean-Claude Seedoyal Jean-Claude Seedoyal has lived in Wollongong all his life and is studying in his second, and perhaps final, year as an Accounting Major. He aims to earn a minor in Business Law. He came to UOW through TAFE studies that formed the basis of his understanding of Accounting. His interests include reading (Harry Potter), watching movies (Star Wars and Kevin Smith films) and trying to spend more time with friends. He is currently writing a fiction book, which will hopefully be published by mid 2010. He would like a job that would encourage him to study further.

Dale Sperring Currently in his 3rd year Bachelor of Commerce degree, Dale is majoring in Human Resource Management. Dale originally started his degree at Shoalhaven campus but transferred to Wollongong. Dale has spent one year overseas as an exchange student in Costa-Rica and has also lived in Argentina. In the future Dale plans to travel to Europe.

Ying Yan Zhou Currently in her first year of Bachelor of Commerce degree, Ying Yan is doing a double major in Finance and Accountancy. Her hobbies include dancing and playing guitar. As an International Student, the experience of studying at a top International School makes her life easier in Australia. And now she is ready to share her experience and help others.
