Freda completed her PhD, MCom and BCom in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wollongong. Freda joined the School of Accounting and Finance in 2006. Prior to that, she lectured in Hong Kong and worked in the private sector. She is currently a Councillor of CPA Australia (Illawarra Division) and senior associate of FINSIA.

Freda’s research interests are in the area of Accounting History, Banking, and Social Responsibility. Her PhD research focuses on the disclosures and accountability within the banking framework.
