Chinese Commerce Research Centre (CCRC)

Aims

The primary aim of the newly established CCRC is to undertake research in the areas of finance, accounting, and business by using the Chinese dataset with its seemingly unique institutional settings. These projects include corporate governance, ownership structure, CEO compensation, earnings management, market microstructure and inside trading.

Research collaboration

Recently, the Faculty of Commerce signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the School of Business at the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) in China for research collaboration particularly between the CCRC and the Finance Department at the SYSU. The centre also has on-going joint research projects with the following universities:

  1. Nanyang Technological University
  2. Singapore Management University
  3. Shanghai University of Finance and Economics
  4. Sun Yat-Sen University
  5. University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

PhD student supervision

The centre currently has about ten PhD students funded by different institutions including the Chinese Scholarship Council, UOW scholarship as well as industry fundings.

Refereed journal articles

Since the estalishment of the CCRC, PhD sduents with their supervisors have already published their research in various international refereed finance journals.

Prestigious conferences

Many papers were accepted for prestigious international conferences, such as Financial Management Association (FMA), in Reno, Nevada, USA 21-24 October 2009 and China International Finance Conference, Guangzhou, 2009, 10-13, July.
