Procurement

The purchasing of IT equipment (hardware) and software is the responsibility of the Commerce IT Support Unit.

Three (3) year replacement plans have be devised for all Schools & units within the Faculty. The replacement plans include the replacement of office desktop computers, School/discipline shared printers & periphals, core & some specialised software applications and software required for teaching. The funding for these replacements has been budgeted for at a Faculty level. For information on the the 3 year replacement plans contact the Commerce IT Manager.

The University's supplier of computers is Dell, (standard desktop configuration or standard laptop configuration for a staff members office) and the Mac supplier is Apple, (standard Mac configuration).

External suppliers for equipment not supplied by Dell & Apple will be source as needed.

Staff wishing to purchase IT equipment/Software from Research/Consultancy funds must consult with the IT Support Unit for advice and then the Faculty IT Manager for purchasing.

It should be noted that any equipment purchased out of consultancy/research funds remain the property of the University and the Commerce IT Support Unit is responsible for managing the procurement of such equipment.
