Spotlight on Learning and Teaching

The University of Wollongong Spotlight on Learning and Teaching program is an initiative of the Centre for Educational Development and Interactive Resources (CEDIR). The program is designed to celebrate and acknowledge learning and teaching successes and innovations at UOW with the goal of sharing good practice.
The Spotlight program has a professional development focus and has many facets which include:
- A dedicated website
- The production of posters of successful learning and teaching initiatives
- Poster session expos to share practice
- Video clips of academics describing their learning and teaching innovations
- An A4 presentation booklet
- Collections of resources and articles to extend understanding of quality learning and teaching programs.

The Next Spotlight on Learning and Teaching
The next Spotlight on Learning and teaching will be announced in the near future.
It will follow a similar format to the last Expo held on June 18th 2008 which was associated with the Emerging Technologies Conference.
CEDIR will again produce 10 posters, video clips, webpages and another volume of the Spotlight booklet to showcase quality teaching and learning initiatives.
The posters will become the property of the successful applicants who will be expected to accompany their posters at a display board for approximately 30 minutes at an Expo and be prepared to share their work, in person, on video clip and through booklet and website postings.
For the poster genre, academics need to be able to synthesise the elements of their work into approximately 100 words and have ideas for images and diagrams that will enhance a poster design. The CEDIR team will provide professional development consultations to refine the focus of the academic area. For production purposes a template is available for the placement of copy, pictures and diagrams and a meeting time will be scheduled for the editing and refining of the intended text.
