Aims
CEDIR Business Plan
Purpose of Unit: CEDIR works collaboratively with the University community to enhance University wide educational practice. CEDIR supports innovative and quality teaching and learning by:
- providing faculty based and campus wide staff development activities;
- implementing and integrating a broader range of technologies in eTeaching;
- providing professional learning design services;
- developing web, video and multimedia educational resources;
- providing staff development opportunities in the application of current and future technologies to learning and teaching, and
- providing learning technology support and teaching space development.
The Planning Context: CEDIR focuses on the integration of unit planning with faculty teaching and learning planning for all areas of activity including staff development, resource development, and teaching spaces development.
Current Challenges: the management and reuse of rich-media learning resources, the learning management system, management of expanding learning technology systems.
Priority Issues: development of strategic plans for assisting each faculty with learning and teaching development; and development of evaluation survey options and portfolios.
Core Business
Academic Development
- Respond strategically to University and faculty strategic plans for academic development needs
- Implement a staff development program with reference to the following priorities: sharing good practice in teaching, e-teaching; improving assessment; subject development/design and management; publishing about teaching/scholarship of teaching; teaching teams; working with international students, integrating learning technologies.
- Develop/provide and maintain processes and tools for the evaluation of teachers and subjects
- Provide support services for the interpretation of evaluation data
- By supporting applicants for National Teaching Award University OCTAL awards encourage, recognise and reward teaching excellence
eTeaching Systems
Provide operational support and ensure system continuity for eLearning@UOW.
- Establish opportunities for faculty-based management of their eLearning space.
- Strengthen faculty eLearning system support networks and communication strategies.
- Engage in innovative programs and practices associated with eLearning systems.
Learning Design Unit
- Improve quality of learning designs
- Faculty Service Agreement
Educational Systems Development
- Undertake resource development and maintenance to support Faculty teaching activities
- Support the development and maintenance of University wide projects (such as EOOnline, ILIP, UniLearning)
- Develop systems that support teaching activities
Learning Facilities and Technologies
- Maintain a high level of technical and operational support for the users of common teaching areas
- Continue to equitably and efficiently facilitate the loan of equipment to staff and students
- Monitor trends in emerging technology and evaluate equipment for inclusion in theatres and for loan
- Increase use of videoconference and eduStream in local, regional and multi-location teaching.
