Throughout 2007, the School of Information Systems and Technology, in the Faculty of Informatics, has been involved with a total curriculum overhaul. This has resulted in the launch of nine significantly restructured degrees with a much more streamlined offering. A comprehensive database of information relating to information technology and systems terminology, best practice examples for assessment, and mapping of learning resources to various levels of accreditation was developed in 2007.
This project has focused on the facilitation of the social change practices necessary for the staff of SISAT to take ownership of these details and embed them into the subjects. The new practices have included the introduction of Hubs, where academics teaching related subjects collaborate on cohesive curriculum design across subjects, and integrate Graduate Qualities into assessment and content.
The social change process that makes the significant move from individual academics being responsible for assessment and curriculum development in subjects has been an essential component of this project.
