Careers Central - Student Societies

How we can help UOW Student Societies

There are a variety of ways which Careers Central can work with student clubs and societies. We have knowledge and experience which can link your members with external individual organisations and professional bodies.

The focus of activities in the past have revolved around career education activities about the workplace and how students can make an active contribution, and how they can land their ideal job. Presenters have included our experienced staff, but also guest speakers form business, industry and community contexts.

Contact our staff to discuss some of the programs and strategies we have run in recent years with other clubs and student societies.

What we have found is that if we work together, then there are increased benefits to your club and your members. Better profile for your club with students and with external organisations, and for us we increase student participation in career related activities – which is one of our key objectives!

Contact – Martin Smith, Head, Careers Central to discuss further (martin@uow.edu.au or phone 4221 3324).

Register with 'My JobAlert'

If your members tell us who they are (experiences, qualifications and skills) and the fact that they are keen to be kept up to date with job opportunities then Careers Central can keep them up to date.

All they need to do is: register with My JobAlert and we can let them know when a relevant new opportunity is listed. We just inform them via email of new 'My JobBoard' listings  –  and they follow through with an application to the employer/organisation if they wish. And we will also send your members the Careers Central Newsletter every month.

Please note – we don't send emails from My JobAlert when it is a casual or unpaid opportunity or part of the 'Jobs on Campus' initiative.
