Gain valuable skills and experience in a rewarding
environment
As university students we are often overcome by the
demands of a busy uni schedule, hectic social lives,
the part time job and our other extra curricular activities,
there doesn’t seem time to get involved with a
charitable organisation, does there? Most of us underestimate
the benefits of volunteering as it is an excellent way
to gain experience and skills, whilst allowing you to
contribute to the community and foster personal growth.
There are several things that you need to remember
when considering becoming a volunteer; firstly when
selecting an organisation for which you'd like to volunteer,
choose one that does work close to your heart, the most
mutual benefit will be achieved when you volunteer for
a group whose mission is important to you, and for which
you deliver an honest effort to assist. Also remember
that you are making a commitment to the organisation,
although it is volunteer work, they expect and often
rely on you to show up – no matter how busy your
uni schedule.
Whether its only for several hours a month or maybe
even taking a break after you’ve finished uni
there are many important non-profit organisations that
can provide challenging and worthwhile experiences.
