WELCOME TO 'My JobAlert'
For some of you, this will be the first version of 'My JobAlert'.
According to our records you are in your final, second last (also known as penultimate), or first year at uni and you now have been automatically subscribed to the Careers Service's 'My JobAlert', which informs you about upcoming job opportunities matching your skills and academic details. To enable our system to do this more effectively we encourage you to resubmit your personal details via our online form at http://www.uow.edu.au/careers/forms/jsdb-student.html.
Should you not want to receive these messages please send an email to:
careers@uow.edu.au
Subject: Delete JSDB entry - - - - - and in the body put your name and student number.
My JobAlert tells you of upcoming opportunities like graduate positions, general positions which are degree related, information sessions, workshops, careers fairs, employer email mailouts to a student cohort, and more. You will also receive our monthly newsletter.
In addition, we have an 'My JobBoard' for part-time/casual positions not degree related at http://www.uow.edu.au/careers/jobboard/jobs2.html as well as voluntary positions/overseas work experience programs at http://www.uow.edu.au/careers/jobboard/voluntee.html. As we don't notify you via 'My JobAlert' about these opportunities, please check our website at http://www.uow.edu.au/careers/jobboard/ regularly.
My JobAlert has proven to be very successful with students from previous years and we encourage you to stay on the system, even better, use our online form at http://www.uow.edu.au/careers/forms/jsdb-student.html to give us the additional information we need to match your personal skills.
IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST YEAR – The uni Careers Service is here to help you establish worthwhile career goals - and develop employability strategies to achieve those goals. With 'My JobAlert' we can keep you up to date with relevant info - as you progress through your studies. Don’t leave it til your last semester on campus to find out how we can help - cause by then it is just about too late!
http://www.uow.edu.au/careers/firstyear/
IF THIS IS YOUR SECOND LAST YEAR – later in the year many organisations will be offering vacation work over summer and they’ll start to advertise them from May onwards. You might also hear of other worthy workplace learnin programs to increase your employability.
IF THIS IS YOUR FINAL YEAR – Interested in lining up a great graduate job for the end of your studies? To make sure that you do not miss out on any of the programs which might interest you, you need to be on the alert from the start of session. Most vacancies for graduate programs, which start in January 2010 and are generally with large organisations, will be advertised and promoted between March and May 2009. Given the current economic climate there are likely to be slightly less graduate vacancies in 2010 in some sectors, however intakes may stay the same in others. Either way it is worth getting into your graduate job search sooner rather than later --- http://www.uow.edu.au/careers/finalyear/FinalYear.html
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to drop into our office and ask our friendly staff for help and don't miss our Careers Fairs --- details are at http://www.uow.edu.au/careers/assistance/fairs.html
We hope you enjoy our free service!
