UOW CAREERS SERVICE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

We currently are recruiting our team of Careers Service Interns for 2009.

The Interns assist the Careers Service staff with operational and promotional activities associated with the Careers Service. This will include liaison with graduate recruiters at Careers Fairs and information sessions, assisting with logistics at Careers Fairs, contributing to projects, liaison with faculties as well as staff and students in campus promotional activities. Our range of Job Seeking Workshops will be continuing again throughout October.

Resume Workshops at Sydney Business School

Whether you are looking for a casual student job or are preparing for full time employment following graduation these workshops are particularly useful for international students to make sure your resume is what Australian employers are expecting you to provide. Workshops are held in Room 3 each Monday afternoon at 1:30pm and 2:30pm.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS GRADUATING END OF SPRING 2009 OR AUTUMN 2010 – JOB SEARCH PROGRAM

In 2009 the University of Wollongong Careers Service will again be offering the Certificate in Global Workplace Practice for international students studying in the Commerce, Engineering, Informatics and Health & Behavioural Science faculties and the Graduate School of Business.

This program aims to help international students to better prepare for looking for work in Australia after graduation. During the program you will learn what Australian employers are looking for in the graduate market. Registrations will be open later this year, but in the meantime please see our website.

VACATION WORK AND GRADUATE RECRUITMENT PROGRAMS

If next year is your final year, it is still time to apply for vacation work over the summer holidays. UNIVATIVE ILLAWARRA

So how does it work? From 2 – 20 February 2009 (3 weeks of summer recess) teams of students will be challenged to solve a business issue/problem set by the University’s host employers.

Univative Illawarra is open to all students; undergraduate, postgraduate, domestic and international, from all faculties. However preference will be given to final and penultimate year students.

VOLUNTEER SURF LIFE SAVERS FROM ILLAWARRA SLS CLUBS

The School of Management and Marketing is seeking volunteer surf life savers from Illawarra clubs to participate in the construction of an artwork by Melbourne artist Kerrie Poliness (Blue Wall Drawing #1). The work will be installed on a wall in building 40 (Commerce Building) using blue texta pens, under the guidance of local artist Jennifer Jackson. The artwork installation is the focus of the efforts of public relations students to raise awareness of the great job our volunteer life guards do to keep our beaches safe. Students will raise money for surf life saving Illawarra to purchase much need rescue equipment and fund beach safety education programs.

The artwork will be launched on Thursday 16 October 2008. All volunteers who work on the installation of the artwork will be invited to the launch event.
