UNIQUE INTERNSHIP FOR UNIVERSITY OF WOLLONGONG STUDENTS
The Australian Taxation Office has set up a specific opportunity – only available for students from UOW.
The Tax Office will be running a Summer Internship Program over the 2008/09 summer period. This is a paid developmental program where you will receive on the job training to assist with compliance related taxation work. To be considered, you must demonstrate the ability to understand, interpret and apply tax legislation, rulings, policy and guidelines. You must also be available to work on a full time basis from early December 2008 to late February 2009.
Essential Skills: Students currently completing the penultimate year of a commerce, law, or combined commerce/law degree are strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity.

- Global economic issues and graduate recruitment – it is too early to say how Australian graduate employers are responding to this, however in the next 3 weeks major national meetings will be discussing this – look for an update in our December newsletter. At this stage our bookings for the 2009 Careers Fair are at the same level as last year.
- Please note we will be closing our offices over the Christmas break from December 24th to the 5th January 2009 – and no new jobs or students registrations will be processed on 'My JobBoard' from 16th December 2008 until 12th January 2009.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS GRADUATING END OF SPRING 2009 OR AUTUMN 2010 – JOB SEARCH PROGRAM
In 2009 the University of Wollongong Careers Service will again be offering the Certificate in Global Workplace Practice for international students studying in the Commerce, Engineering, Informatics and Health & Behavioural Science faculties and the Graduate School of Business.
This program aims to help international students to better prepare for looking for work in Australia after graduation. During the program you will learn what Australian employers are looking for in the graduate market. Registrations are open now.
