ILLAWARRA GRADUATE
CAREERS FAIR 2007
The Illawarra Graduate Careers Fair
is taking place on Thursday, May 10th
in the University Hall from 10:30am - 1:30pm.
Employers looking to employ graduates locally and with
good quality training schemes will be represented. Including
top recruiters such as Accenture, BHP Billiton and as
well public sector employers such as Wollongong and
Shellharbour City Councils.
One organisation will be looking to recruit penultimate
year (second last year) students for vacation
work and work experience - all disciplines!
Whether you are looking for Engineering, IT, Marketing
or Human Resource careers the Fair will have employers
looking to recruit University of Wollongong students.

Don't forget to bring your student card for registration
purposes. We have a lucky door prize for students
who register - prize is $100 to spend at the UniShop

on the Tuesday the 8th of May 2007 from
18:30 to 21:00

2) Australian Nuclear Science & Technology
Organisation (ANSTO) will be presenting in
the Kemira Rooms 1 & 2, level 2, UniCentre
Bdg on Tuesday 15th of May 2007 from 12:30 to 13:30

3 ) For students who are thinking of going/working

Presented by two of our University Alumni who have been
there done that!
Tuesday May 22nd from 12:30 - 1:30 - venue

Jennifer, a University of Wollongong marketing graduate,
is now a manager of a division of a large American recruitment
firm Robert Half. Jen will be offering tips on what
O/S recruiters like, reviewing resumes, and tips on
what big companies look for in graduates. Sol, a University
of Wollongong IT graduate has spent time on various
IT contracts for different companies, Exxon Mobil &
Esso in Oil, GMP Securities (Brokerage) in finance.
Sol will be speaking about life as a contractor, what
it means to companies, and how employees respond to
contract skills.
They can offer insights into the highs and lows of working
and living away from Australia. This presentation will
not be dry or boring and will allow time for Q&A.
Students interested in the overseas experience will
find value in this presentation! Please register

UNIVATIVE ILLAWARRA
If 2007 is your final year and you

By participating in UI, you have an exciting opportunity
to gain valuable workplace skills.
So how does it work?
From 29 June to 30 July 2007 (3 weeks
of mid-year recess) teams of students will be challenged
to solve a business issue/problem set by the University’s
host employers. Univative Illawarra
is open to all students; undergraduate, postgraduate,
domestic and international, from all faculties.

TRIAL
Collect and reflect on your Uni experience

system that can help you to collect and reflect
on your skills and experiences online.

VOLUNTEERING ILLAWARRA
Writing bids for grants, organising sports events for
Cancer Research, getting trained to deal with phone
calls from people in distress and mentoring young people
who are on the verge of dropping out of education. If
you thought voluntary work was doing the weekly shop
for the housebound then think again. ‘Volunteering
Illawarra’ offer a range of opportunities that
can boost your resume. Find out more at the Volunteering
Expo on Thursday, 17th May at the Illawarrra Master
Builders Club, Church Street, Wollongong. 9:30am –
3:30pm. No need to book, just turn up.
