UNIVERSITY AND BEYOND
STUDENT SURVEY
What will you do after University?
University and Beyond is a national
survey which is gathering information from students
throughout Australia about their preferred types of
work, expected salary, methods of seeking work, whether
they feel “work ready”, whether they intend
to study further and much more.
It is being carried out by Graduate Careers
Australia (GCA), a national body which supports
the work of careers services like ours, and will produce
data which will help everyone, including you as a student,
understand what the future holds for tomorrow’s
graduates.
It can be completed online, and should take no more
than 15 minutes. Go to www.universityandbeyond.com.au.
There you will discover that by completing the survey
you have a chance to win:
- One Grand Prize of a $4000 travel/retail voucher
- Or one of three $500 travel/retail vouchers
- Or one of fifty $30 music vouchers
We would like to get a good response from Wollongong
students, so that we can get a better idea of your career
expectations, and can offer even better services to
you.
Be in it!

VACATION WORK CLOSING
DATES APPROACHING
If 2008 is your final year, now is
the perfect time to consider lining up some paid work
experience over the summer holidays. Many graduate employers
who recruit large numbers of graduates will offer ‘Vacation
Work’ in December, January
and February. It is a ‘try
before you buy’ scenario, as they get
to check you out and you get to check them out, as many
of these employers will then move to make graduate offers
for the end of your studies. Closing dates will vary
– but generally run from June through
to October. To find out what options exist,
there will soon be some hard copy Vacation Directories
in the Careers Service, but for now keep checking out
our website – under Industrial Experience/Vacation
Work
www.uow.edu.au/careers/jobboard/vacation.html
A small tip – when someone says ‘penultimate
year student’ they means they seek someone in
their second last year.

ACCENTURE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL PENULTIMATE
YEAR STUDENTS
What can you expect? Whether you choose
a six-month or year- long program for penultimate students,
you can expect to spend your first few days on an induction
course, where you’ll discover more about Accenture
while building your business and technical skills. Next
you’ll learn about the project you’ve been
assigned to, which could be in any part of the business
or any area of the country. As a genuine member of the
team you’ll take on real responsibility - anything
from testing software or undertaking research to compiling
reports or analysing complex information.

sector.

discussion to take place.
We will be specifically targeting organisations who
place students from the following academic departments
