Job Title: Volunteer State Delegate NSW
Job Specification: A delegate's duty would include:*attending bi-annual teleconferences or conference attendance at National Conferences *receiving incoming queries & making appropriate referrals to answer questions single mothers & their children have about economic, legal, social & governmental changes *staying in contact with the executive, national coordinator & project officers in South Australia *the aim is to build the capacity of state member organizations to more effectively represent the needs of single mothers in the various states, and thus ensure a strong & appropriate input into the development of public policy.
Essential Skills: High levels of: * Computer literacy (email/word/PowerPoint) * Phone & email skills * research & interpretative * group work (focus groups) * social science/policy background * managerial skills *collaborative skills to work with other delegates **You do not need to have all of these skills, if you have potential for them to be developed.
Desirable Skills: ***Same as essential skills.
Additional Info: Victoria and South Australia are currently the only member states which receive funding, and NCSMC delegates in other states do undertake this role in an entirely voluntary capacity, along with work, study and parenting commitments. Indigenous persons are encouraged to volunteer as delegates. A good starting point is to further check out the NCSMC website www.ncsmc.org.au
