Job Title: Volunteer Home Tutor for Newly arrived Refugees and Migrants
Job Specification: Help newly arrived refugees and migrants with their settlement process by being their English tutor once a week for an hour. This will give you the opportunity to help empower people to participate in the community; share in a cross-cultural experience; support people who are isolated due to language barriers; assist people to reach their full potential in their new environment. No previous teaching experience is required as we provide free VETAB accredited training. We ask for a commitment of 6 months. After 15 sessions with your student you will be issued a certificate of attainment.
Essential Skills: Patience, understanding, empathy and a willingness to help
Desirable Skills: Any community language may be useful, but not essential
