Job Title: Graduate Engineer
Job Specification: Cogent Energy is an exciting and dynamic energy company that is being
ramped up to meet the growing demand for efficient, cost effective and environmentally friendly energy to large
commercial buildings in Sydney. We use the latest cogeneration and absorption chilling technology that will be
installed on site. This position of Graduate Engineer will report to the General Manager NSW and the
successful candidate will work under the close supervision of the Cogeneration Applications Engineer & Senior
Project Manager. The ideal candidate would be a recent graduate who displays enthusiasm for practical
engineering, is conscientious, a team-player and keen to get involved in an exciting new venture focused on
developing the environmentally-friendly business.
Essential Skills: Key roles and responsibilities – Applications Engineering 1.Responding
to initial prospect enquiries 2.Analysis of energy data & plant feasibility studies 3.Preliminary proposal
preparation & assisting with response to RFT’s 4.Compiling client scope of work documentation & schedules
Key roles and responsibilities – Project Engineering 1.Basic technical responses to clients on project queries
2.Preparing information as per technical meeting minutes requests 3.Assisting with information requests from
supply authorities 4.Liaising with engineering team in Melbourne H/O in the compilation of technical documents
– schedules & drawings etc.
Desirable Skills: Candidate requirements: 1) University degree in mechanical, building
services engineering or similar and a good practical / technical aptitude. 2) Must be enthusiastic and willing to
learn all about cogeneration technologies and their application to large commercial buildings. 3) Must possess
good written & oral communication skills, in particular good engineering writing skills. 4) Must be a self starter
and work responsibly and autonomously to get the job done to tight time frames. 5) Must be willing to be part of
a small hard working team and be flexible enough to take on a wide & assorted range of technical tasks.
