Antipodeans Abroad invites you to spend 1-2 months in your semester break broadening your horizons in a developing country. Take part in our UniBreak volunteer placement. Reward yourself by combining travel with a worthwhile community project. Add life experience, personal growth and travel to your resume, at the same time as making a difference to a disadvantaged community and creating lifelong memories.

GHANA, WEST AFRICA
Teaching English
Ghana is home to the friendliest people in Africa. You have the opportunity to teach English to eager students aged 6-12 in local schools. You will live with a welcoming local family and experience the vibrant culture of Ghana.

KENYA, AFRICA
Building
Safari with elephants and lions, scuba dive the Indian Ocean or climb Mt Kilimanjaro. Enjoy living in an international tented safari-style camp with students from Australia & Great Britain and take part in a building project to benefit the local village school or hospital.

PERU, SOUTH AMERICA
Building, teaching
Live near Cusco - the gateway to the Andes and trek the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. You have the opportunity to teach English to children aged 4-14 in local schools. You will live with a local family, learn Spanish and dance the salsa.

ECUADOR, SOUTH AMERICA
Care work, street-kids
Visit the Galapagos Islands or the Amazon Jungle. You will be placed in Quito or Cuenca City and have the opportunity to assist in social work with poor children, street kids, orphans, or disabled children. You may opt to teach English, sports, music or art at local schools.

INDIA
Community Work
You have a choice of being based in Rajasthan or in the Himalayas near Dehra Dun (NW India). You may teach English to the local children or assist in local community development work. Live in teachers accommodation and spend the weekends exploring these stunning regions.

SRI LANKA
Teaching, care work
Experience Sri Lanka’s hospitality, lush hills, tea plantations and stunning beaches. Based in Polonnaruwa, (central north) you will be teaching basic English in rural schools to Singalese children aged 6-14 years who have never learnt English before. You may also opt to work with the children at an orphanage just outside of Colombo.

CHINA
Teaching English
Experience a thriving ethnic minority culture & stunning scenery, set apart from tourist China. Based in Lijiang in Yunnan Province in SW China, you will be teaching in a village school and living with a local guesthouse or family.

BORNEO
Teaching English
Based in the lush isolated highlands you will be teaching in a rural boarding school in Bario and living with a local family close to the school. This area offers some fantastic secluded treks, amazing wildlife and hospitable locals.

VIETNAM
Street Kids, orphanage
Live with a local family in the picturesque town of Hoi An, central Vietnam and work in an orphanage caring for the children. Opt to also work with street kids in Hanoi or teach English to the minority tribes while enjoying Vietnam’s diverse scenery.

THAILAND
Community Work
We offer numerous placements in Thailand. Choose to live with a Thai family in villages surrounding Chaiyaphum (East) or in a village near Mae Hong Song (North). Experience teaching English to minority tribes such as the Karen people.

COST: Approx. $1,950 for 4 weeks, $2,450 for 6 weeks, $2,750 for 8 weeks (some destinations vary)
INCLUSIONS: Accommodation, food, full pre-departure training and comprehensive briefing, In-country orientation and support, transport and 24 hour back-up in Australia. Placements are for 1-2 months with optional extensions.
EXCLUSIONS: Return airfare, personal travel insurance, costs for visas, vaccinations.
