Job Title: Pioneer Madagascar Volunteer Programme
Job Specification: Pioneer Madagascar is the volunteer programme run by Azafady, a registered UK charity (No. 1079121) that has been working on environmental, humanitarian and sustainable development projects in southeast Madagascar since 1995. Madagascar is one of the world's highest conservation priorities and needs your help - your hands as well as your thoughts.

Joining Pioneer Madagascar means that you will be living, working and travelling amongst some of the most beautiful and remote parts of Madagascar. The programme offers the opportunity to work in hands-on situations alongside village communities with an international team of experienced project leaders. Pioneers take part in a range of practical construction work, conservation research and educational activities as required by Azafady's projects, which focus on health and sanitation, sustainable livelihoods and conservation. Pioneer groups contribute to the projects that the Malagasy NGO Azafady runs in the town of Fort Dauphin and in the surrounding rural villages.

You will be actively involved in many aspects of our work, based at our research and development stations scattered around the traditional fishing and farming region of Anosy. This is an invaluable opportunity for you to gain on-the-ground experience that will assist you in pursuing a career in development and/or conservation work, with an organisation that has a proven track record in these fields.

Any active person over the age of 18 may become a Pioneer as all required skills are taught. However, while practical and research experience is welcome, enthusiasm and sensitivity are a must. Successful applicants will learn skills associated with conservation and rural development work.
