Looking for a Casual Job on campus for Spring Session? Careers Central can help!
Register online for a Campus Ready Workshop to become part of the Jobs on Campus Talent Pool and be the first to be notified of new Casual Jobs on Campus. Some of our Talent Pool students have recently secured casual jobs with campus employers such as IHMRI, URAC, and within various UOW faculties.
Campus Ready Workshops are available in August as follows:
Thursday 12th August - 9:30am - 12:30pm
Wednesday 25th August - 12:30pm - 3:30pm
Workshop places are limited so be quick! September workshop dates soon to be confirmed.

LOOKING FOR A JOB DURING YOUR SUMMER BREAK
A range of employers provide ‘Vacation Work’ over summer. To find out who they are and what disciplines they seek visit our Job Board to see what opportunities we know of right now. This list will change over the next few months – but some have closing dates right now – so don’t delay – check it out now. You can also pick up a FREE copy of the ‘Undergraduate Opportunities’ handbook from our office which provides info about Vacation Work..
And make sure that when you apply you have presented yourself well with your resume - maybe you need to do our workshops or at least get access to our publication ‘The Edge’.
Some organisations recruit their graduates direct from their Vacation Work programs – so it would be very wise to get amongst this now.
MANAGING DISABILITY AT WORK
The managing disability at work forum is a joint initiative being run by UTS, The University of Sydney, UNSW, the Australian Employers Network on Disability and the NDCO Program (CDS, UWS).
The forum is open to all currently enrolled University students in NSW/ACT with a disability who are thinking about career pathways.
Students who attend will be able to:
- Find out more about practical career strategies and programs to give you an edge in a tough job market.
- Hear from uni grads with disabilities about how they have secured rewarding jobs or relevant experience.
- Participate in workshops.
University Careers Advisors will also be available and the event promises to be inspiring and informative. A light lunch will be provided and a chance to meet people from other Universities.

AUGUST WORKSHOPS
We are offering students the full suite of workshops this month in preparation for a busy semester of active job seeking for either a casual job, vacation work or a permanent graduate position. Workshops offered cover resume writing, how to address selection criteria and how to perform well at interviews and in assessment centres.
This month we are again offering a workshop for students who have been offered a graduate job commencing 2011 (or earlier). This workshop is called “Making a Successful Start in Your New Job” and will cover topics such as making a positive impression upon commencement, employee rights and responsibilities in the workplace and what to expect in your first week, month and year in your new role. Note you must have been offered a permanent role to be eligible to attend this workshop.

A powerful influence on the large increases in the health related industries relates to our ageing population – these demographics are real – not unsubstantiated theory.
