Univative Illawarra Mid-Year Recess
2008 Univative Illawarra Winter held 23 June to
18 July 2008
2008 UI Winter was held for 4 weeks: 23 June to 18 July 2008. A total of 72 students participated in 12 teams. Approximately 90% of these students were international.
The six host organisations, Illawarra Credit Union, Thomas & Coffey, URAC, UniCentre, Skilled Group and Internetrix, provided a work issue for the students to analyse and recommend solutions.
Three of the teams were then selected to showcase their projects on Friday, 25 July at the UI Showcase & Certificate Ceremony. These teams represented local employers, Illawarra Credit Union, Internetrix and Skilled Group.
Of particular interest in today’s economic climate was Team Momentum Consultants for Illawarra Credit Union whose topic was “how can smaller financial institutions survive in these uncertain times of market volatility”. Team Golden Compass, representing Skilled Group, delivered the topic “develop a marketing campaign to attract qualified industrial staff from within and to the Illawarra region”. Finally, the team for Internetrix were challenged “to develop an international market engagement plan for Hiive Technologies with a focus on the Asian region”.
Following these showcase presentations, six winning teams were recognised with prizes.

- Team 4 working with Thomas & Coffey Ltd
- Team 6 working with UniCentre Ltd
- Team 7 (Innovative Edge) working with URAC
- Team 9 working with Skilled Group
- Team 11 working with Internetrix
