Testimonials
Manager HR Phil Rouse, BlueScope
Steel, "commended the team for their professional
conduct and also for the high quality of their report, noting
that all of the team’s dealings, their presentation
and their recommendations were of a standard that would have
done a management consultancy firm proud."
Tommy Kong, Student - B.Com/B.Arts,
"Hi all, my name is Tom and I participated in the UI program held during the summer break of 2007-08. Looking back, the UI experience was the best 3 weeks spent in my tertiary study life. When I first applied for UI, I didn’t know what to expect. However, I knew that my aim was to improve my employability. With this mentality, I committed myself to solving the specified business problem for Australian Health Management (AHM). I worked in a dedicated team of 6 students and together we experienced the process as a team in a professional environment. For someone who has completed many uni-based teamwork activities, UI provided an experience distinctively unique in comparison.
Alike many final-year students, I am in the process of applying for graduate recruitment positions. I have completed my studies in the field of Accountancy and from there, I commenced my job search. Problem is, I don’t have any accounting experience. Many would ask, how did UI help in the recruitment process? The answer is a unique experience combined with initiative. Many employers value experiences (not just marks) and therefore, UI allowed me apply my skills in a pure business context. Teamwork capabilities, problem-solving skills, communication skills are but a few skills applied in UI. When it came to answering online application questions and interviews questions, I reflected (for the most part) on my experiences in the UI program. For most employers, I presented unique experiences that no other applicants possessed. As a result, I have been offered the position of Graduate Tax Analyst in Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a member of the Big Four accountancy firms in the world. Thanks to UI and the UOW Careers Service, I have succeeded in landing my dream job."
