June 2008 - Vacation Work Advertisements

During the month of June, some of our Interns placed a number of vacation
work opportunities for penultimate year students on the Careers Service website
under "My JobBoard". A special mention must also be given to Juliana from
the Careers Service office who did an excellent job in searching for and
placing many of the vacation work positions onto the job board. Many thanks
Juliana!

The Interns were required to conduct a thorough search on the internet for
companies which provide vacation work for students, generally from November
2008 through to February 2009. The Interns needed to include the company
name, discipline(s), general details and how to apply for the vacation work
in the advertisements, to give students a head start and help in their
search for vacation work. Therefore, the Interns are providing a great
service to UOW students, by flagging potential vacation work vacancies.

Vacation work is a fantastic opportunity for students in their penultimate
(second last) year, giving students the chance to work in a team environment
where they can apply their studies in a practical way. As a further bonus,
depending on the organisation, the opportunity to land a Graduate position
the following year may arise after a successful vacation work program.
