David Drake

David is the founder and Executive Director for Center for Narrative Coaching and the Master Facilitator for Narrative Design Labs. The Center has launched hubs in Sydney, Toronto and London to develop and connect both practitioners and their craft. The hubs are working on projects related to social innovation, coaching mastery, gender and leadership, and more. David has also helped more than 30 organisations to effectively navigate change, enhance their client/customer experience, and develop innovative service delivery methods through the integration of coaching in how work gets done.

David has been an adjunct faculty at two universities in the US and a guest lecturer at over a dozen universities in Australia, the US and Europe. He is currently involved in three research projects related to coaching and leadership. He is an Associate Editor for Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice; and on the Editorial Board for International Journal of Evidence-Based Coaching and Mentoring, and International Journal of Coaching in Organizations. He is the author of 35 publications on narratives and coaching; and the editor for “The Philosophy and Practice of Coaching: Issues and Insights for a New Era”  (2008, Jossey-Bass). His next two books will be on the essentials of narrative coaching and on using narratives and coaching to support organizational change.

Keynote Description

David will share his insights on what positive psychology can learn about human development from the ancient wisdom in stories and the current science behind narrative practice in order to take the next steps in its evolution.
