- through the integration of buildings with the natural environment, maintain the University’s reputation for providing an outstanding and harmonious campus which facilitates engagement of members of the campus community with the natural environment
Cleaning Services
The general cleaning of the University has been designed to provide an efficient and effective service to the campus buildings - generally prior to 9.00am. The cleaning staff deploy into various groups depending on the specific building requirements. Staff rotate their duties and undertake various routine and/or scheduled cleaning tasks (e.g: vacuuming, bin emptying, toilet/wet area cleaning dusting, cob webbing, polishing, scrubbing etc.).
The Cleaning Service Guideline defines the cleaning services made available. This level of service is standard across the campus. If there is a need for additional or specialist cleaning (e.g: kitchenette/tea room clean-ups) then this will be considered on ‘user pays’ basis. Should you have any questions or concerns relating to these cleaning services please contact the Cleaning Supervisor.
Should customers require assistance with office logistics then a team of attendants are available for this type of work. Once a job request has been lodged by phone or email (B&G Service Centre 4221 3217 or buildings_service_centre@uow.edu.au ) it will be reviewed to determine the staff and equipment needs and costs if appropriate. The timetable for this work will depend on current workload and general University needs.
The following items are examples of the types of work undertaken:
- Office moves and relocations
- Clean-up rubbish removal (tip run)
- Delivery of furniture and equipment
- Exam and conference setups
- Archive relocation
- Supply of toiletry consumables
- General transportation of goods for Departments and Faculties
Essentially any non-trade work request for University Departments will be considered. For further information or requests please contact:

Waste and Recycling
The Wollongong campus has three main types of waste services: mixed, recycling and hazardous.
Mixed waste is collected via receptacles positioned across campus each morning. Please note that there are many options available for recycling waste so please refrain from disposing any recyclable matter in the mixed waste bins.
An extensive range of materials can be easily recycled on the Wollongong campus. These materials include; paper, cardboard, co-mingled containers, printer/copier cartridges and softwood pallets. Students, staff and visitors are encouraged to use these services and other options available whenever possible to help reduce the quantity of waste generated and landfilled each year.
All suitable vegetation waste that is produced as a result of landscaping activities at the Wollongong campus is reused on site. Lawn clippings and leaf matter is left to decompose and wood waste is reused where possible.
If you have a mobile phone or associated battery that you wish to recycle please visit http://www.mobilemuster.com.au for details on this industry wide recycling service.
