The Faculty Service Agreement (FSA) process links Faculty Learning and Teaching priorities with staff expertise from the Centre for Educational Development, Innovation and Recognition (CEDiR), the Centre for Academic Systems and Resources (CASR) and Learning, Innovation, Facilities and Technology (LIFT). Examples of the types of projects which can be undertaken include, but are not limited to, assistance for eTeaching, blended and multi-location teaching including assessment or subject / curriculum redesign; video and audio production; animation; graphic design; web design; database development and staff development.
Although the priority in 2012 will be those FSA's which aim to support staff in the implementation of sound pedagogical approaches utilising the new Learning Management system (eLearning system), there is also scope for projects involving production, including animation, database development and video production to be undertaken as part of the FSA process.
FSA PROCESS
A call for expression of interest will be emailed to staff towards the end of each year, for nomination of projects for development during the following year. If you would like to apply for a FSA outside of this time frame, please contact either Chris Brewer (chris_brewer@uow.edu.au) or Paula McGregor (paula_mcgregor@uow.edu.au) to discuss your idea so that we can determine if we have the resources available to be able to commence your project. The table below details the process
Expressions of Interest for support during 2012 are required to be submitted prior to 5pm, 21st October 2011.
| 1. Idea | Identify a learning and teaching issue/problem that requires a solution, or an innovative eLearning idea for development, then discuss the issue or idea with a Learning Designer. Click here for a guide to help you develop your FSA ideas before submitting your expression of interest. |
| 2. Review | T&L plan Review the Faculty Learning and Teaching plan to find out if the project idea would meet the Faculties priorities. |
| 3. Faculty approval | Discuss the project idea with Faculty and/or Learning Designer and seek FSA approval from your Dean/department head or other delegated authority then complete and submit a Faculty Service Agreement, Expression of Interest Online Application Form , identifying the project ideas. |
| 4. Submit application | Submit the online application and it will be forwarded to the Dean or delegated authority for formal approval. While completing the expression of interest you will be asked to include the type of work required (eg learning design, web development, animations, videos, etc), and whether you will require resource development. You will also be asked to outline how the project relates to the teaching and learning priorities of your faculty. |
| 5. Approval & scoping | If accepted as a potential FSA, a Learning Designer will meet with the academic to scope the project; this identifies project framework and production requirements. |
| 6. Production queue | The project is prioritised according to UOW priorities and placed in a project queue. Once resources are available the applicant will be notified and development will commence. |
| 7. Evaluate | Where appropriate, the project is to be evaluated. Learning Design staff will be able to assist you with this. |
