Online Tutorials Enrolment

Tutorial times/clashes

Ask your subject co-ordinator or your tutor first. If the lectures in two subjects clash, you should start thinking about alternative subjects.

Change of subjects

  • Students can change subjects up to week 2 via SOLS: http://www.uow.edu.au/student/ (add or withdraw from subjects).
  • After the end of Week 2, you will need the approval of the Subject Coordinator and Head of School (on a blue and white Variation form) to enrol in a subject.

Who signs the form?

  • Waivers after week 2 - Subject Coordinator and Head of School
  • Addition of subjects after week 2 - Subject Coordinator and Head of School
  • Course transfer - Sub- Dean
  • Extra credit points - Sub-Dean
  • Unspecified credit - SubDean
  • Specified credit - Sub-Dean
  • Application to amend your academic record - ARD

Planning your Arts major - subject selection

Speak with the co-ordinator of the major, convenor of the program, your lecturer or tutor when you have decided on your major and want advice on the most appropriate subjects to take.

Advanced Standing and/or Course transfer

Make an appointment with the Sub-Dean's Assistant to see the Sub-Dean of Arts. Phone 02 4221 4838, building 19, room 1050.

Cross-institutional study

If you wish to enrol at another tertiary institution, concurrently or otherwise, and have subjects successfully completed at that institution count towards your course at UOW, you must gain the prior approval of the Faculty Sub-Dean.

Help with essay writing

In the first instance, ask your tutor. If you need help with essay-writing basics, the Learning Resources Centre is the place to go. The Centre offers free individual tutoring, holds workshops on essay writing, study skills and exam techniques and has helpful materials for students. (Phone 02 42213977. Building 19.G02 and Building 11).

Student Equity and Diversity

Liaison, information and referral for students as well as provision of programs supporting student equity and diversity both within faculties and across campus including:

  • Student welfare for international and domestic students
  • EdStart (grants for financially disadvantaged students)
  • Transition programs for international students
  • Provision of equity information
  • Liaison for the University’s Disability program
  • Liaison for other areas of Student Services and referral to services such as Counselling, Learning Development, Careers
  • Liaison with the Academic Registrar’s Division and other areas of the University
  • Liaison with external agencies
  • As an emergency point of contact for students at risk and students involved in critical incidents

University Counselling Service

The University Counselling Service provides professional, confidential counselling to all students and staff, and also has an International Student Adviser. Phone 42214335

Library

The University Library wins more awards every year for the excellent service it provides to our students and staff. Organised tours run regularly in the first few weeks of the session and staff at the Information desk are always willing to help if you have problems.
