Welcome
Welcome to the School of English Literatures and Philosophy. The School is one of three Schools within the Faculty of Arts and incorporates the following programs:
- English Studies Program providing a dynamic environment for understanding society and culture through literature. The program of study ranges from medieval literature to the Internet, and includes women's writing, British, American, Australian, Canadian and post-colonial literatures in their social and cultural contexts.
- The Philosophy Program aims to provide students with a grounding in core areas of contemporary philosophy: ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of mind and action, theories of knowledge, and philosophy of language. The Program also aims to develop in students the skills and attitudes of critical reasoning which are central to the practice of philosophy.
- Science, Technology and Society Program which looks at how modern science and technology underpins almost every feature of our society. They impinge daily upon our lives and shape our future. STS studies the origin, nature and social impact of science and technology.
Our courses offer a stimulating study of culture, knowledge and ethics which will open many doors and offer of a variety of interesting and exciting career paths.
