Henri Jeanjean

Henri is a Senior Lecturer in French in the Modern Languages Program and Coordinator of European Studies. He has an L-ès-L (Bordeaux), a BA Hons (Sydney) and a DipEd (Wollongong). His research interests are multidisciplinary and include various aspects of French society. His major field of research is the history, role and place of territorial minorities in France and in the European Union. His book "De l'utopie au Pragmatisme?" (1992) is a historical and sociological analysis of the Occitan movement.
He has also explored the relationship between historical realities on one hand - both on the political and sociological levels - and artistic movements or literary texts on the other. Other concerns are the impact of the increasing development of the European Union on Minorities in France, the historical, economic and political relationship between the Catalans and the Occitans or the linguistic policies of the French State.
