Passmore Essay Prizes – 2006

Professor John Passmore, was one of the most eminent Australian philosophers of the Twentieth Century. Among his many contributions to philosophical debate, he deserves much credit for the development of applied philosophy. Professor Passmore bequeathed his large and significant personal library to the University of Wollongong, and in recognition of Professor Passmore’s generosity towards the University the Philosophy Program established two prizes in his name for student essays: one for the best first year essay, and one for the best essay in applied philosophy.

The winners for 2006 are Timothy Dains (first year), and Karl Rollings (applied philosophy).
