Biographies
Rochelle Hurst
Rochelle Hurst is a PhD candidate in the School of English Literatures, Philosophy and Languages and completed her double undergraduate degree – BA(Hons)/LLB(Hons) – at the University of Wollongong in 2003. Her thesis, currently entitled Chick-Lit and a Feminist Theory of Novel-Into-Film Adaptation, seeks to establish alternative approaches to adaptation theory. Case studies include the adaptations of Candace Bushnell's Sex and the City, Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and Laura Zigman's Animal Husbandry. Her areas of interest include adaptation theory, feminist theory and criticism, the popular genres of chick-lit and romance and gothic literature and film. Claire Lowrie
Claire Lowrie is a PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong. She is enrolled in the School of History and Politics, and affiliated with the Centre for Asia Pacific Social Transformation Studies (CAPSTRANS). Claire's research interests lie within the fields of feminist and post-colonial histories. Her thesis is titled: ‘In Service of Empire? Linda Wade
Linda Wade is currently undertaking her PhD research within the School of History and Politics. Her thesis examines the many-layered and overlapping memories and meanings associated with Villers Bretonneux, a town “saved” by Australian soldiers in the final months of The First World War, rebuilt with funds raised across the state of Victoria, and home to two memorials to Australian war efforts.
