Centre for Australian Aotearoa New Zealand Studies
UoW has established a Centre for Australian Aotearoa New Zealand Studies
(CAANZS) that will operate under the auspices of CAPSTRANS. This is believed to be the first of its kind in Australia. It is headed by a steering committee of Prof Shirley Leitch, A/Prof Anne Collett and A/ Prof Paul Sharrad.
This is a multi-disciplinary group (covering literature, politics, environmental studies, education, history, economics, health, indigenous studies, etc.) and will run occasional seminars, host visits from New Zealand, and develop collaborative trans-Tasman research links.
An inaugural workshop will be held on Friday September 25th. The plenary address will be given by Prof Lydia Wevers, Director of the Stout Research Centre, Wellington, and various members of UoW will speak on their research.
