Ritsuko Saito is Associate Lecturer in the Modern Languages Program of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Wollongong. She completed a BA and an MSc in Psychology at the University of Wollongong and a Graduate Diploma in Language Teaching and an MEd in Adult Education at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has teaching experience in Japanese at primary, secondary, and tertiary level.

Ritsuko teaches Japanese language subjects at all levels (first year, second year and third year) and JAPA102 (Japanese Studies for Educational Purposes). She also supervises a y-talk class (interactive computer mediated communication with a Doshisha University class in Japan) which is a part of the third year Japanese language subject.

Research interests

Ritsuko's research interests are

  • the use of CMC (computer mediated communication) for language development
  • the implementation of strategies-based instruction
  • foreign language education & lifelong learning
