International Exchange

International exchange agreements between our university and a number of institutions in Spain and Latin America make it possible to have approved studies at those institutions count as specified credit towards a major in Spanish at Wollongong.

The main exchange universities are:

Required Level of Spanish

The Spanish Section of the Modern Languages Program will only support applications for exchange from students who have completed SPAN152 or its equivalent. It is highly recommended that students complete SPAN251 prior to studying overseas.

How to do it

Consult:

Complete an International exchange application form, including Advanced Standing Approval forms for 3 universities (to be completed in consultation with an appropriate member of academic staff), and letters of recommendation.

The  International Exchange office organises the selection and nomination of students to exchange partners.

Should results for subjects not be available on time, Modern Languages will declare a withheld result at the relevant Examination Committee meeting.

It is the responsibility of students to ensure that an academic transcript of their results at the exchange university is sent to the International Exchange Office. It is on the basis of this transcript that the Modern Languages Program will determine the grade to be declared for successfully completed subjects.

Students must submit an exchange report to the International Exchange Office.

Travel Grants

Students of Spanish may apply for the University's travel grants ranging in value from $2000 to $5000.
