Advice for contributors
General The
Editorial Board welcomes submission of articles and book reviews for
publication in the Journal of Social Change and Critical Inquiry. All
submissions are reviewed by two referees on the understanding that the
work has not been published elsewhere. Articles should be less than
6,000 words and reviews less than 2,000. You can send your
submission (formatted in Word 6) as an email attachment to Angela Pratt or on computer disk to
the mailing address shown below. The disk should be labelled with your
name and the name of the article. Unsolicited submissions should be accompanied by a
{non-refundable} submission fee of $A45 (cheques should be made payable
to the University of Wollongong).
Please also send three hard copies
of your manuscript (double spaced with 2.5 cm margins on all sides) to:
Angela Pratt
Editor, JoSCCI
All correspondence will be conducted via email, so authors are required to provide a current email address when submitting papers.
References JoSCCI articles and book reviews are referenced
using the Footnote system. The first reference to a source in the text
should be accompanied by a footnote at the bottom of the page, which
will include the authors name, date of publication, title, place of
publication, and publisher. Direct quotes should include a page number.
For example, for books: Douzinas, C. & Nead, L. (eds) 1999,
Law and the Image: The Authority of Art and the Aesthetics of
Law,Chicago: University of Chicago Press. For journals:
Read, P. 1983, "A Rape of the Soul So Profound:Some
Reflections on the Dispersal Policy in NSW",Aboriginal
History,7(1), 23-33.
For internet material: Tait, D. 1999, Boundaries and
Barriers: The Social Production of Space in Magistrates Courts and
Guardianship Tribunals, Journal of Social Change and Critical
Inquiry,1, Available URL: http//www.uow.edu.au/arts/joscci
After the first reference to a source, the footnote should include only
the authors name and year of publication (and page number for
direct quotes). Latin terms such as ibid and op cit
are not required. For example: Tait 1999, p.12.

Illustrations
JoSCCI welcomes articles which are accompanied by illustrations. All photographs and images must be suitable for scanning and be
submitted on separate sheets. The place in the text where the images
are to appear should be marked. Captions should identify the artist or
photographer, source and date of the image (in the same way as described
in the Reference section above). JoSCCI cannot pay for the
preparation of illustrations or for royalties for their publication in the
journal. Authors are required to obtain permission to publish images and
provide the editor with written documentation that this has been received.
