Welcome
The School of History and Politics offers students
the interpretive tools with which they may attempt to
understand the past and the present. Offerings are grouped
into four broad areas:
- Social movements
- Political theory and political economy
- Culture and civilisations
- War and state development
Our subjects explore a wide variety of topics from
Ancient Greece to the latest anti-globalisation protest.
Our teaching and research covers aspects of people,
community, society, government, conflict and war in
Australia, the Pacific, Asia, Europe and the Americas.
The staff of the School of History and Politics can
supervise postgraduate research students in a variety
of areas. The School’s Research Seminar Program
provides training in presentation and critical evaluation
of arguments and research techniques.
