Double Degrees with Arts
About
A double degree is defined by the University of Wollongong Course Rules as "an approved course leading to the conferral of two degrees as separate awards upon a candidate who has complied with the Course Requirements for double degrees and the two individual Course Requirements inclusively”.
Double degrees broaden a your knowledge and skills base and improve career options in competitive, increasingly interactive fields.
The University’s double degree programs are designed to enhance your educational, academic and professional qualifications whilst minimising the costs of your studies.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to do one degree and then the other one?
A: No. You are enrolled in a combined degree program which means that you can set the pace for your progress through both components of the degree. You must bear in mind that there are core subjects in some degrees, but this does not necessarily mean you have to do them in the first year. Please consult each faculty about your degree program.
Q: Are there subjects I have to do each session?
A: Normally there are. You will need to consult the Course Structures in the University Course Handbook (Calendar) for the non-Arts degree to ensure that you have the requirements for your major.
Q: How long will it take?
A: It will take a minimum of 4.5 years. This will allow you to carry the same load as if you were a single degree student.
Q: Can I do a double major in Arts?
A: Yes, you can. In some cases you may have to exceed the number of credit points needed for the Arts component of the Double Degree.
Q: Can I transfer from a single degree to a double degree?
A: You will need to see the Sub-Dean of the receiving faculty who will advise you. Normally you will need at least a credit average.
