Bachelor of International Studies Transitional arrangements for students who enrolled before 2012
Following a review of the Bachelor of International Studies, from 2012 the BIS will introduce new core subjects and new minors. The changes were recommended with a view to giving the degree a more distinct identity and you can be assured that as a current student you will not be disadvantaged by the changes. Rest assured moreover that you’ll graduate in the timeframe originally planned.
The changes are outlined below:
- The 200-level core subject INTS225 will be replaced by LING210 and INTS222 (current BIS students are only required to do one 200-level core subject)
- The 300-level core subjects will be reduced to three prescribed subjects - INTS310, INTS399 and SOC 326
- Strands will be replaced by named Minors (current students will have the option to graduate with their original strands OR of adopting a new minor)
The information in the transition arrangements worksheet will guide you in selecting subjects that will satisfy all B.I.S requirements and outlining your options on existing strands.
Download the transition arrangements worksheet here.
If you wish to complete a minor from the 2012 BIS degree as well or in place of a strand, please follow the requirements set out for that minor from the 2012 online handbook.
