Visiting Interns
Oren Howlett
Canadian Studies Fellow
January 2002 - July 2002 As the intern for the Centre for Canadian-Australian Studies, Oren Howlett has been involved in numerous tasks. He has arranged events, assisted with the administrative duties of the Centre, edited and written for the Centre newsletter Latitudes, and produced a promotional brochure for the Centre.
Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Oren was sent to the Centre as the second intern from the International Council for Canadian Studies International Internship Program. He graduated from the University of Toronto in June 2001 with a Hons. B.A in Canadian Studies and will be attending Carleton University in the fall to pursue his M.A. in Political Science, which he intends to follow up with a PhD in the same subject.
An accomplished vocalist, Oren has sung as a church soloist and as a member and soloist with the Toronto-based Nathaniel Dett Chorale, a professional choir dedicated to reviving music by Afro-centric composers. He has also appeared on stage with Donny Osmond in Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat and Barry Manilow as a chorister.
When Oren grows up, he hopes to be a Professor of Political Science and occasionally step back on to the stage, as a singer, dancer, and actor.
