Visiting Interns
Meagan Dallimore
Meagan Dallimore joined the Centre for Canadian-Australian Studies upon completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honours English at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Since then she has been directly involved in a host of exciting events and activities, which have included planning the All Canada Day and Canadian Writers Night, assisting the President of the Association for Canadian Studies in Australia and New Zealand at their biennial conference, and contributing to the success of the International Short Film Festival, presented in conjunction with the annual Viva La Gong Festival. Her current efforts have been dedicated to organizing the upcoming Nortel Networks Canadian Studies Address at which Professor Leroy Little Bear will speak.
The highlights of her experience in Wollongong, thus far, include preparing the fourth Nortel Networks Address for publication, designing promotional posters and conference logos for events and conferences, being chased by a hungry kangaroo at Caves Beach (bread may or may not have been involved), and being routinely “paid out” for her loyalty to the Vancouver Canucks, her willingness to believe in “drop bears,” her distaste for Vegemite and beetroot, and for the way that she pronounces “out and about.” In addition to exploring the sights around Wollongong, Meagan has briefly sated her wanderlust with trips to the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays, as well as various destinations around New South Wales, and hopes to embrace much more of Oz and the islands of the South Pacific in the remaining months of her stay in Australia.
