The Politics of Place in Canada: Contemporary Northwest Coast First Nations Art
On 2 August 2005 the Centre for Canadian-Australian Studies hosted a discussion by First Nations art historian and University of Northern British Columbia anthropologist Rocque Berthiaume.
Mr. Berthiaume is an expert on the art of the First Nations peoples of the Northwest coast of British Columbia. He is also the curator for the much anticipated People of the Cedar exhibition to be held at the National Museum of Australia in early 2006. The show explores the cultural, practical and spiritual significance of the cedar plant to First Nations peoples of British Columbia. |
